Projects The projects listed in this section are a representative sampling of projects that Transportation & Energy Solutions has undertaken since forming in October 2001. With these projects, TES has achieved an excellent track record for bringing in projects at or below design and construction budget, timely delivery, and most importantly client satisfaction. Many of the clients/references listed below are repeat customers. |

Palmdale Medical Center Project: Palmdale, CATES has completed PS&E for off-site traffic signals, interconnect, roadway lighting, signing/striping, and traffic handling on behalf of the City of Palmdale for a new regional medical center. The PS&E is based on traffic analyses and conceptual plans prepared by TES to determine appropriate off-site improvements (both at 2020 and at hospital build-out anticipated 2006). In addition, TES evaluated the site entrances/exits, conducted traffic signal warrant analyses, determined appropriate development turn pocket lengths. |

San Fernando Road ITS Project: Burbank, CATES has completed PS&E for this $3.5 million construction project to install fiber optics, twisted pair, CCTV, DMS, trailblazer signs, system detection, and traffic signal upgrades along the San Fernando Corridor. TES efforts include preparation of documents, plans, details, special provisions, and detailed estimates for the installation of 12 CCTVs, 3 DMSs, and 30 system detectors. In addition, TES is responsible for managing the City’s other consultants on the project. Planning activities performed by TES included a communication masterplan and location planning for all field devices. |

Hemet High School Stadium: Hemet, CATES prepared two stage traffic handling plans for use during construction of the Hemet High School stadium project. Construction will occur while school is in session and impact a significant east-west commuter route. TES attended several meetings with the school district and the County of Riverside to develop an appropriate traffic handling strategy. The plans were prepared under a tight schedule and included a one-way circulation concept, temporary drop-off area, parking restrictions (and removal of restrictions), signal operations, detours, temporary striping and construction signage |

Southern California Housing Development Corporation (SCHDC) Traffic Analysis and Signal Studies: CATES is providing traffic engineering services to the SCHDC for its various developments in a number of cities, including Indian Wells, Corona, Bell Gardens, etc. TES’ services include traffic impact studies, signal warrant analyses, signal design and striping plans, driveway design and planning, consultation and coordination with Caltrans and cities. |

Media District and San Fernando Blvd. Construction Administration and Observation: Burbank, CATES designed two multimillion dollar ITS projects in the City of Burbank. After the projects were awarded for construction, TES conducted construction administration and inspection/observervation on behalf of the City. The Media Disctrict project was a federally funded project and included numerous meticulous federal and Caltrans process and paperwork requirements that TES followed. Services also included daily inspection logs, field supervisions reviews, payroll processing, quantity review, lab reports, weekly meetings, product inspection, factory testing, etc. |

LED Traffic Signal Planning and Implementation: City and County of Honolulu, HIAs subconsultant to Johnson Controls, Inc. we helped convert the traffic signal system of the City and County of Honolulu, Hawaii from incandescent to LED technology. This involved signal head inventory, type classification, energy use survey, energy savings projection and calculation, payback projections, LED traffic signal module evaluation and testing, and signal maintenance planning. |
